The Ellipsing Structure of Creating and Recalling Memories Series

​

I'd like to start by saying: yes ellipsing is not a 'real' word; however, it suits my intentions well. The title is intended to reference the abstract structure of experiencing a new memory and recalling that memory throughout one's life.

 

When a memory is made it is typical for the memory to be recalled more frequently soon after it is experienced. The memory then becomes less frequently recalled as time goes on. New memories fill the space of short-term reflection. The memory is recalled more often depending on things like the consequences, emotional response, location, novelty, and severity of the memory.

 

I chose the non-word "ellipsing" to depict the abstract

and immeasurable nature of thought.
